In an endeavor to champion creative talent and foster skill development, Prime Video has launched an impactful masterclass series across prominent film and television institutes in India.
This initiative, born out of a Letter of Engagement between Amazon India and the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, aims to enrich students’ learning experiences and enable them to engage with influential figures from the Indian entertainment sphere.
The inaugural masterclass took place at the esteemed Film and Television Institute of India (FTII) in Pune, featuring distinguished guests including National Award-winning director Nitesh Tiwari, versatile actor Janhvi Kapoor, acclaimed film editor Antara Lahiri, and Shri Vikram Sahay, Joint Secretary of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting.

Under the theme “Crafting Stories that Resonate,” the maiden masterclass delved into a diverse range of topics that captivated the eager minds of students. The interactive session explored essential aspects of storytelling, such as selecting compelling narratives, infusing relatability, the profound significance of effective writing, the art of improvisation in acting, and the transformative impact of the streaming industry on filmmaking.
Nitesh Tiwari’s Insights on Casting and Vision Nitesh Tiwari, renowned for his directorial prowess in films like “Dangal,” “Chhichhore,” and “Chillar Party,” shared valuable insights into the casting process.
He emphasized the importance of approaching casting with an open mind, advocating against the limitations that may arise from envisioning specific actors for roles. Tiwari highlighted the creative benefits of steering clear from preconceived notions and revealed, “All of us have certain perceptions about various actors… you have those perceptions, and once you keep an actor in mind, you will start writing to their strengths and start avoiding what you perceive are their weaknesses.
” Additionally, Tiwari stressed the necessity for directors to embrace change and adapt their initial vision to create a cinematic masterpiece that surpasses expectations.

Janhvi Kapoor’s Perspective on Acting and Improvisation Janhvi Kapoor, celebrated for her roles in films like “Dhadak,” “Roohi,” and “Mili,” provided unique insights into the art of acting.
