Prime Video, India’s beloved entertainment platform, has announced the eagerly anticipated global premiere of the crime drama “Bambai Meri Jaan.” This Amazon Original series, comprising 10 thrilling episodes, will exclusively debut on Prime Video in India and across 240 countries and territories on September 14th. Produced by Excel Media and Entertainment’s Ritesh Sidhwani, Kassim Jagmagia, and Farhan Akhtar, with the story by S. Hussain Zaidi, “Bambai Meri Jaan” is the brainchild of creators Rensil D’Silva and Shujaat Saudagar, who also directs the series.
Featuring a dynamic and skilled ensemble cast including Kay Kay Menon, Avinash Tiwary, Kritika Kamra, Nivedita Bhattacharya, and Amyra Dastur in pivotal roles, the fictional crime series delves into the gripping tale of a father and son whose paths are as divergent as they are interconnected. This modern crime thriller, set in the post-independence era, explores the age-old battle of good versus evil while narrating the journey of Dara Kadri (played by Tiwary), a young man torn between his father’s law enforcement legacy (played by Menon) and his own entanglement with organized crime.
Aparna Purohit, Head of India Originals at Prime Video, expresses her excitement for this project, stating, “Bambai Meri Jaan is an intricate and intriguing story of dreams and ambitions, where the insatiable hunger for power defines one’s choices. The story is like an immaculate symphony that delves deep into the psyche and emotions of its key characters, as they struggle with the consequences of their own choices.” This collaboration marks Prime Video’s fifth venture with Excel Media and Entertainment, emphasizing their shared commitment to storytelling that is authentic, relatable, and diverse in genres.

Ritesh Sidhwani of Excel Media and Entertainment remarks, “Bambai Meri Jaan chronicles the birth of the underworld in Mumbai set against the backdrop of a free nation. Viewers will witness a gripping gangster thriller, exploring the classic, universal battle of good versus evil.” This partnership with Prime Video serves as a platform to bring thought-provoking narratives to global audiences.
Shujaat Saudagar, the show’s creator, provides insight into the series’ thematic depth, stating, “Bambai Meri Jaan deals with the complexity of nature vs nurture. Thematically stories which relate to dysfunctional relationships have always attracted me to tell a cinematic narrative.” He further reveals the series’ connection with Mumbai’s evolution in the post-independence era, portraying a family’s growth amidst trials and tribulations.
As anticipation mounts for the release of “Bambai Meri Jaan,” Prime Video continues its mission to deliver compelling narratives that resonate across cultural boundaries, inviting audiences to embark on a journey that explores human complexities against the backdrop of a changing world.
