The grand event of the 11th Living Legends was organized by Nrityacharya Pandit Gaurishankar Foundation at Bal Gandharva Rang Mandir, Mumbai where Padmavibhushan Pandit Hariprasad Chaurasia was felicitated. The evening was filled with great guests and artists. Virendra Shankar also honored his disciple Pandit Rakesh Chaurasia along with Pandit Hariprasad Chaurasia. Many artists including Anoop Jalota, Sameer Sen were present on this occasion.
Virendra Shankar was very happy that Pandit Hariprasad Chaurasia, who is a true living legend, was a part of this program. The crowd kept clapping after seeing the performance of the artists. The audience gave a standing ovation after seeing the amazing performance of Pandit Rakesh Chaurasia and Pandit Rajendra Gangani.
On this occasion, Virendra Shankar’s brother Jeetu Shankar and Virendra Shankar’s sons Mayank Shankar and Harsh Shankar as well as Vikas Tulsyan, Mohan Damani and MQ Syed were also present.

This organization has been honoring classical music artists for the last 11 years under the name of Living Legends. Virendra Shankar said here that this honor program in the name of Living Legends is organized every year by Pandit Gaurishankar Foundation. The aim and objective of the foundation is to promote young artists by providing them education, helping artist widows, giving training in dance, music etc. Over the years, legends like Ustad Allahrakha Khan, Pt Shiv Kumar Sharma, Sitara Devi, Wadali Brothers and Jagjit Singh have been honored by the foundation.
