Actor-Producer Supriya Khan shares her love for Diwali, expressing the joy brought by home decorations like colorful lights, toran at the entrance, diyas, and tealight floating candles. However, she reveals the emotional void she feels during Diwali due to the absence of her father. While the festivities create a warm ambiance, Supriya fondly recalls the memories shared with her father during Diwali and throughout the year.
“Despite all the joy and celebrations, there’s a void in my heart every Diwali as I dearly miss my father. His absence is a vacuum that’s impossible to fill, but I cherish the lovely memories we shared during Diwali and throughout the year,” says Supriya Khan.
In terms of celebrating Diwali, Supriya has a unique perspective. While she appreciates eco-friendly Diwali initiatives, she personally associates Diwali with the joy of firecrackers, especially on Laxmi Pujan. She describes the excitement, lights, and sounds of firecrackers as an integral part of the festivities.
Reflecting on Diwali food traditions, Supriya mentions her love for the delicious snacks prepared by her mother, following the Maharashtrian and Kolhapuri traditions. She fasts on Laxmi Pujan and breaks the fast after offering bhog to Goddess Laxmi. The elaborate meal served on banana leaves includes dishes like sukha batachchi bhaji, puri, varan bhat, chana masala, kanda and mirchi bhaji, puranpoli, katachi amti, basundi, and salad.

Dhanteras holds special significance for Supriya, who follows the tradition of buying gold on this auspicious day. She plans to wear a beautiful red salwar kameez and purchase gold coins from Tanishq, along with clay utensils.
For this Diwali, Supriya intends to wear the saree that her father first gifted her when she turned 21. This cherished item holds sentimental value, and she looks forward to wearing it on Laxmi Pujan while offering prayers.
