Actress Charrul Malik says that she is so proud of being an Indian. She adds that the country has been steadily progressing in all areas.
“Being an Indian fills me with pride. It’s incredible to witness the progress and advancements our country is making in various aspects, be it our growing economy or rich cultural heritage. I truly believe that the day is not far when India will stand as one of the strongest nations globally. What makes me even prouder is the deep-rooted values, traditions, and cultural diversity that we possess. Our unity in diversity is something special, and the way we celebrate our festivals, like the recent global celebration of the Ram Mandir event in Ayodhya, reflects our unique identity. It’s heartening to see the world joining in to celebrate our culture, making me confident that India is indeed special, and in every way, it is the best,” she says.
Talking about what needs to be worked on in our country, she says, “I have immense love for everything about my country, from our tricolor flag to our precious cultural festivals and heritage. Our language, Hindi, holds a special place in my heart. While I do speak English, there’s a unique connection and warmth that Hindi brings. I believe it’s wonderful if all Indians can speak Hindi fluently, as it is our mother tongue. In essence, I cherish every aspect and every corner of my country. It’s Important for one thing to be corrected in India, and that’s poverty. When I see people begging on the streets, sleeping between dividers or on pavements without proper bedding, it deeply saddens me. Witnessing the lack of basic necessities like blankets and a place to sleep, and people resorting to begging, I feel that addressing poverty is essential for achieving equality and improving lifestyles. While poverty exists globally, it seems more pronounced in India, especially in places like Mumbai where slum areas are prevalent. Having observed this regularly, it’s disheartening.”
