AR Rahman revealed his grandiose aspirations for Chennai, India’s cultural environment, which included building a theater in the style of Broadway. Rahman’s goal is to create a vibrant theater environment by introducing the local public to the glitz and glamour of Broadway productions.
Many people consider AR Rahman to be one of the world’s greatest composers of music. He was asked to speak as a distinguished guest at the Times Now Summit 2024, where he would be discussing his musical journey and his role in the upcoming movie Maidaan.
A question about the celebrated maestro’s kind and humanitarian personality and whether it made him unique in the entertainment industry was asked during the conversation. Rahman responded with grace, explaining that he felt he was above the cinema world. In addition, he said that his team has already started working toward the goal of opening a Broadway theater in Chennai.

Furthermore, you are both small and large in comparison to composers and artists around the world. Large in certain areas and tiny in others.

In reality, my goal is to establish an arts collective in Chennai and provide a space where we can perform Broadway-style performances. Thus, that’s what my pals and I are preparing to accomplish. And that’s a big task because it’s scary to consider business, finances, and what might go wrong.”
Absolutely, Broad in Chennai. I’m working on a musical right now with a director in London, but I can’t give too much away just yet because it won’t be out for six months,” he continued.
