It is said that change is the law of the world, and these days it is rightly being manifested with the Bhojpuri film “Mahadev Ka Gorakhpur”. The film was released on March 29th and has proven to be the first Bhojpuri film released simultaneously in multiple languages, receiving praise from all quarters. The film beautifully portrays the grandeur of Indian ancient history, the wonderful confluence of Indian spirituality and philosophy, and the inclusion of divine powers. It depicts why India has been the land of sages and why worship of Lord Shiva was prevalent in ancient Indian civilization. The story revolves around one of the followers of Lord Shiva, Veerbhadra, portrayed by megastar Ravi Kishan, who leaves an indelible mark on the audience. Through this film, it is shown why Hindus have been steadfast in their faith despite invasions by Muslims/foreigners for centuries. The film also explores why most of Lord Shiva’s sacred places are dedicated to the Indian subcontinent. The magic hidden among the people here has repeatedly attracted Mahadev, making him omnipresent in every corner of the Indian subcontinent.
In the film “Mahadev Ka Gorakhpur”, Ravi Kishan appears as a character from two generations. Initially, he portrays Veerbhadra, the staunch commander of Mahadev in the year 1535 AD, who had to take Samadhi (sacrifice himself by drowning) with his Guru on the day of weapon worship after being attacked by Muslim invaders. He showcases extraordinary bravery, proving himself to be an exemplary devotee of Mahadev, and eventually attains martyrdom. Veerbhadra is a warrior whose unwavering faith and belief in Mahadev are portrayed brilliantly by Ravi Kishan. Later, centuries later, in the role of DIG Pankaj Pandey, he returns to complete the unfinished tasks of his previous birth after imbibing the teachings of devotion to Lord Shiva. Alongside Ravi Kishan, Sushil Singh has also captured the audience’s attention with his powerful performance. Pramod Pathak has delivered an excellent performance in the role of a Muslim character, and Indee Thampi’s outstanding acting is noteworthy. Lal has also drawn everyone’s attention with his role, and Kiyan has not missed the opportunity given in this film. Overall, no artist in the film has overshadowed the others, and everyone has made their best efforts to make a great film.
The technical aspect of the film “Mahadev Ka Gorakhpur” is as excellent as its direction and acting. Director Rajesh Mohanan has done an exemplary job of elevating the standard of Bhojpuri cinema beyond the current Bhojpuri cinema. If the talents of Bhojpuri film artists are utilized properly, they can compete with artists from any other industry. Speaking of cinematography, a different level of cinematography is seen in this film. The cinematographer has perfectly depicted the depths of dialogue and captured the best reactions given by everyone, enhancing the film’s narration. The editor has skillfully arranged the excellent shots captured by the cinematographer, and his editing skills have further enhanced the impact of the film. Overall, the technical aspect of the film is excellent.
In conclusion, in one line, it can be said that the film “Mahadev Ka Gorakhpur” could prove to be a game-changer for the Bhojpuri film world because it not only showcases action but also emotions, story, and its presentation are excellent, and such excellence is not seen repeatedly. We rate this film 4 Star from our side.
