October 2 is Gandhi Jayanti. On this day Mahatma Gandhi’s birthday is celebrated all over India, his contribution and teaching are being remembered. Bhabiji Ghar Par Hai actor Charrul Malik talks about the significance of the day, the lesson of life she has learnt from Gandhiji and what is that one saying of him that has a huge relevance in her life.
“I always follow this saying by Gandhiji, ‘Bura Na dekho, Bura Na bolo, Bura Na Suno’. Gandhi Ji taught us to keep moving forward with simple thinking and never hurt anyone. I have implemented his lessons very seriously in my life. In fact, his life’s journey was exemplary. Now the time has changed and there is cut throat competition, still we should keep being ourselves and never do bad to others,” she says.
Charrul also follows his saying that no religion should have a monopoly on the truth. “Mahatma Gandhi certainly encouraged friendship between different religions. He always told people to do their work on their own without depending on others. I truly believe in the same too. What Gandhi achieved in his life was a miracle. He lived in the hearts of millions of Indians and was respected by all. He laid great emphasis on banishing untouchability, promoted Hindu-Muslim unity, literacy and was fully involved in the development of our great nation. He moved the people with his sincerity and sacrifice. Even after all these years, his principles, dedication and mission continues to inspire us all,” she adds.
