It’s celebration time for the ace wedding choreographer Sumit Khetan and his team as they have been bagging awards left right and centre. The choreographer says that although he has never worked to get awards, this time is very precious for him.
“The recent award that we won was, The Wedding Sutra Evening was in Mumbai at the Taj Mahal Place on 21st September 2022. The category in which we were awarded was for the best wedding choreographer of the year. We were privileged enough to have won the platinum award which is the best award of the category,” he says.
He adds, “Starting from Bangalore where we bagged 7 awards at ICWF(International Convention Of The Wedding Fraternity), The Great Indian Wedding Awards where we bagged, three gold, three silver and one bronze, then straight to Egypt in Rixos where we got two gold and one bronze and then last but not the least at The Wedding Sutra. The feeling is very amazing but I’ve never worked in my life just to win an award or for an award. My goal is technically to make families at the wedding come and feel like celebrities. I always get high when I design my weddings and the families feel so auspicious on that day and I will continue working for that always.”
Meanwhile, talking about his plans for Navratri and the festive season, he says, “For me, ever since I was 7 years old, till now, I’ve always dedicated these 10 days to Ramlila. For me, there is no work, family, business, or friends. I stayed with the team of Ramlila, I felt so much at home at the temple those 10days. I don’t feel I am short of time there because whatever I gain over those 10 days gives me the blessing to earn for those 355 days. So, my 10 days of Navratri has always been dedicated to Ramlila and I hope this continues with me forever and Lord Ram keeps showering his blessings on me all my life.”

He adds that this year is special. “I don’t know what is going to rock this season but I definitely feel that post Covid, people have started enjoying every festival now. After two years of Navratri, Ganesha Chaturthi has been celebrated so lavishly. I am sure Diwali, New Year, Christmas are also going to be celebrated the same way with a very big bash. This is the festive season; we had a great Ganesh Chaturthi and now Navratri is amazing, we’ll be having a great Diwali too, followed by Christmas and New Years. Yes, people have started working again and enjoying themselves again. I just pray to God that this atmosphere gets higher and better and we keep enjoying and keep worshiping and all our families be safe always,” he says.
