Balraj Syal says that while his dad has been integral in his life, his uncle has brought him up. He says that he has been no less of a dad for him.
“I believe that I have two dads, the one who brought me into this world and the one who taught me how to grow in life; my Uncle (chachu), Mr. Ashok Kumar. My journey has been very long with him because my dad passed away when I was 7-8 years old. So, I have been emotional with my uncle and I talk to him everyday,” he says.
He adds, “When I was very young, I was only loved by my dad but as I grew up my uncle taught me and advised me a lot of things that is to trust God and keep working hard. He has never stopped me from spending money. But he has always done a lot of charity work. Even now, every Sankranti, he makes langar and serves it. He has never stopped me even in my career, always motivated me to do better and told me to know where I am the best at. To always respect where you are and what you have now. He is very cautious about health. Parents don’t tell you much but you get to see and grow seeing them
