Choreographer Rajit Dev, who is the man behind the super-trending Bijlee choreography, says that a trending step is not created at the choreography stage, the trend is created by the audience.
“Creating a trending step is impossible. For me, creating what I want as an artist is important and that’s what artists do. It’s the audience that makes it trending. As artists, no one should have to face the pressure to create trends rather they should trust and have faith in their talent,” he says.
Ask him what changes he has observed in the industry off late, and he says, “It’s been more than fifteen years since I started my professional dancing career. A lot has changed and evolved in a good way. The new generation is aware of the different styles from all over the world. People are now open to seeing new styles in choreography.”
Talking about his own journey Rajit says, “It all started as a dancer. My main aim was to become a choreographer and so far, I’ve come a long way. From choreographing Ranveer Singh, Nora Fatehi, and Allu Arjun and giving trending hit hook steps like Bijli Bijli I feel satisfied and happy. But I feel it’s just the beginning of my career.”
