Being grounded and humble has helped Atul Verma in making some great bonds in the industry. Today, he is reaping the benefits of the same. The actor, who is seen as Ketu in Jai Hanuman Sankat Mochan Naam Tiharo, which airs on Dangal TV, bagged the part majorly because of his previous association with makers – Alind Srivastava and Nissar Parvez. He says, “I have worked with the production house for their mythological show, Ganga. They saw my work and must have realised that I had the potential to pull off the character of Ketu when they began casting for Jai Hanuman Sankat Mochan Naam Tiharo. I would also like to thank Mukesh sir, Gautam sir, and casting directors, Taran and Asad for suggesting my name for the part. I am in love with the look of my character particularly… it makes me feel like a king.”
He feels blessed to be associated with the show since he is a staunch Lord Hanuman believer in real life. He says, “I am a Hanuman bhakt and strongly believe in ‘nase rog hare sab peedha japat nirantar Hanuman bira’.”
The challenge was to play a character that was opposite him. However, Atul got into the skin of the character right from the word go. He says, “Ketu is more blunt and aggressive. But therein lies the challenge for an artiste, which also makes the job even more interesting. Another challenging aspect of doing this show is dabbling into the mythological genre all over again. Trust me, the genre isn’t easy. The mythological show needs a lot more energy and patience. It’s quite difficult to be in the character wearing those heavy costumes throughout the day and mouthing dialogues in chaste Hindi. That’s why I call it ‘khoon paseene ki kamai’.”
Keep watching Jai Hanuman Sankat Mochan Naam Tiharo from Monday to Saturday at 7 pm only on Dangal TV.
