Dushyant Vora is seen as Gangadhar Paranjape, Neel’s father, in Parth Shah and Prateek Sharma’s Jamai No. 1, which is produced under their banner, Studio LSD. He said that he relates to his character and said, “I am Gangadhar Paranjpe! Honest, kind, and a man of principle. The character feels like an extension of me, which makes it even more special to play.”
But he mentioned that his character is not much different from the ones he has played before. He said, “I played Gopal Pandey, a Banarasi pundit as the lead’s father in “Pavitra Rishta”, and he had similar characteristics. In other shows too, I’ve played roles with these same values. But Gangadhar’s situation and the humor involved make him stand out and that is one of the reasons I said yes to the show. As an actor, I always consider the depth and length of the character, and this one was intriguing. Plus, the production house has a tremendous sense for unique subjects and concepts. Their storytelling style is refreshing, and that’s what drew me in,” Dushyant said.
Sharing deets on the show, he emphasised that though ghar jamais can’t really be considered Jamai No. 1, in this show, the lead boy agrees to become a ghar jamai and ends up as a lovable, caring, and honest Jamai No. 1. He added, “The circumstances and situations he faces are completely out of the box. That’s what makes this twist so engaging.”
He said, “Most TV shows start with the boy’s house and then dive into the typical saas-bahu or nanad-bua drama. Here, everything happens in the girl’s house—his sasural. It’s a complete role reversal and the dynamics are fresh and unique.”
He also emphasized that the audience will connect with the humor and emotional depth of the story. He added, “The unconventional setup and the heartfelt moments will strike a chord with everyone. It’s relatable yet different enough to keep them hooked.”
Dushyant is also enjoying working with the stellar cast and crew. He said, “I think the cast is fantastic—thoroughly professional and talented. As for the crew, I have no words! They are professional, helpful, and so caring. I feel completely at home whenever I’m on set.”
The name of the show is quite interesting. What do you think makes a jamai no. 1? “Jamai No. 1 is someone who brings love, honesty, and care into his sasural. He handles both the practical and emotional aspects of relationships with ease. It’s about being the perfect mix of responsibility and warmth, and that’s exactly what this show captures,” Dushyant ended.
