Actor Navneet Malik, currently receiving accolades for his role in the TV show Aankh Micholi, dives deep into his character’s world by mastering the art of tea making. Playing a tea stall owner on the show, Navneet’s dedication to authenticity led him to learn the nuances of tea preparation firsthand.
Navneet shares, “It’s not that I’ve never made tea before. Coming from a family where my mother taught me a few things, and when you move to a new city, these skills become essential. Initially, when I signed onto the show, I didn’t think there would be much to explore in that department. However, during a visit to a local tea shop with friends, I noticed that their method differed from what I was accustomed to at home. There’s a certain choreography, a certain flair that goes into making tea. When I spoke to the tea stall owner, he explained that this attention to detail is to attract more customers, emphasizing the importance of visual appeal. It struck me that if I wanted to truly embody my character, I needed to master this art.”
For nearly a week, Navneet immersed himself in learning the craft at the tea stall. “I must admit, the owner was incredibly gracious. He readily agreed to teach me. I would spend time at the stall, perfecting the art, mastering the rhythm of tea making for around 30 minutes each day. It was an enjoyable experience. By the fourth day, a few regular customers would comment, ‘Isn’t that the tall guy? We need to try his tea.’ I even developed a small fan following at the stall,” he recalls with a chuckle.
Navneet Malik, a versatile actor known for his roles in various entertainment mediums including movies, web series, and TV shows, has garnered praise from industry veterans.
