Himani Shivpuri, currently playing Katori Amma in &TV’s Happu Ki Ultan Paltan, is undoubtedly one of the most recognized and renowned actors in the Indian entertainment industry. The veteran actor, who is ageing gracefully and looks young for his age, believes that birthdays should be about more than just giving yourself joy, but also sharing that joy with others. The actress, who will be celebrating her birthday on the day of Diwali, tends to get a smile on others’ faces this year. Sharing her birthday plans with us, Himani Shivpuri aka Katori Amma says, “Every year my special day begins with a surprise celebration at midnight, complete with cake and decorations by my son. It is his genuine affection with which he assembles all my favourite things that makes the celebrations always very special and filled with greater joy each year. This year my birthday will be more festive and special for me because I will make homemade sweets and distribute them to children, the elderly, or families who are homeless and in need of food. Seeing their happy faces brings me great joy.”
She further adds, “Every year I have a working birthday, but this year it is a double celebration as it is falling around Diwali. The festival of light is all about spreading love and joy and celebrating together. During Diwali every year, I make it a point to clean my house and go shopping, and this year I will do a little more shopping (laughs). One precious thing that is always on my shopping list is a silver coin with Goddess Lakshmi imprinted on it, and this year will be no exception. I also intend to replace some old house furniture, which will be a birthday gift to myself as I have been planning it for a long time. Then, after shopping, I will end my day by having dinner with my friends and family. Not a cliché way of celebration, but a special way for me.”
