Jaideep Singh, currently seen as Balbir Singh Bajwa in Iss Ishq Ka Rabb Rakha, says Diwali is his favorite festival. He looks forward to celebrating with friends and family but is firmly against burning crackers.
He said, “I love how everything is lit up and festive. I look forward to it every year! I enjoy cleaning the house, preparing everything myself, and visiting the Gurudwara Sahib for Deeva Batti as we celebrate Bandi Chhor Divas on that day.”
“I support a cracker-free Diwali, especially because of the pollution. A few sparklers (phuljhari) are fine, but I’m against going all out with bursting crackers,” he added.
Sharing his plans for Diwali this year, he said, “I plan to attend Diwali parties, if work permits, because it’s a great opportunity to meet people I haven’t seen in a long time. I also plan to make sweets at home, though they’re not as good as my mom’s. Friends are coming over as well, so I’m really excited about the festive atmosphere. Since most of us are away from home, my Diwali is always with my friends, Anuj and Priyanka.”

Jaideep loves wearing traditional clothes and makes it a point to dress up for Diwali. “I’ve already had my outfits stitched for Choti Diwali and Badi Diwali. My mom’s homemade besan ki barfi is my all-time favorite, along with nariyal ladoos and homemade mathri, which I love,” he said.
When it comes to gifting, he likes to keep it simple yet thoughtful. He said, “I avoid anything that’s just for show. I prefer giving gifts that have meaning rather than flashy, showy ones. It’s important to me that the gifts reflect the love and care I have for the people in my life.”
A favorite Diwali memory? “My favorite Diwali memory is going to the Gurudwara with my mom, dad, and sister. I miss my dad a lot. One special memory is of him helping my mom cut coconuts for the sweets she’d make. There were always so many coconuts to cut, and it would be difficult for her to manage it alone, especially with us kids constantly asking, ‘When will everything be ready?’” Jaideep concluded.
