Radhika Vidyasagar, who stars as Renuka Deshmukh in Udne Ki Aasha on Star Plus, cherishes Diwali with heartfelt traditions that bring her family together. Sharing her love for the festival, Radhika reveals, “Diwali is my favorite festival! It’s a time filled with warmth, family, and traditions that I hold close.”
For Radhika, Diwali begins with cherished rituals early in the morning. “One of my fondest memories is waking up at 5 a.m. to enjoy an oil massage prepared by my mother. The fragrance of oils and the soft glow of the diyas fill our home with such joy. We also create a colorful rangoli near the chowrang to set the festive tone,” she shares.
The family follows the special Maharashtrian Abhyanga snan ritual on Narak Chaturdashi, where an aromatic ubtan scrub bath is followed by prayers. “The ritual holds a lot of significance for us, symbolizing the victory of good over evil,” she explains. Although bursting firecrackers used to be a part of the celebration, the family now avoids noisy fireworks, focusing instead on an eco-friendly Diwali.
House cleaning is another important part of her Diwali prep, with Radhika noting, “It’s believed that Goddess Lakshmi visits clean homes, so we make it a priority.” The family then dresses in new clothes, performs Lakshmi Puja, and visits the Ganpati temple, continuing traditions that are close to their hearts.
