The Lok Sabha elections are being held across seven phases, from April 19 to June 1. The counting is scheduled for June 4. Banker-turned actor-producer Namita Lal, who was seen in Lihaaf, says the elections in India, like a carnival, are absolutely amazing.
She said, “It’s incredible to be a part of the biggest event in a democracy, and this election is being watched even by those seventy-plus countries that are going for elections this year. India stands out as something that is being closely observed, which makes me extremely proud.”
“As an international citizen, I feel extremely proud that we are receiving so much attention. I think this election will go down in the history of India because we have a very strong ruling party, but we also want to see a strong opposition in a democracy; that’s important. So, everybody is closely watching the campaigning,” she added.
Namita believes a stable government is absolutely necessary, but a strong opposition is also required. She added, “I’m hoping that we will see both—a strong majority for the deserving party and also a strong opposition.”
