Actor Lokit Phulwani says that today’s relationships need time and effort to sustain. However, he says that it’s tough to spend so much time because of the fast paced nature of our lives.
“Patience can sometimes be a rare commodity in today’s fast-paced world. Relationships indeed demand time and effort, but the pace of modern life can make patience a bit challenging to maintain,” he says.
He adds that friendships too require time and effort. “Absolutely, friendships also require nurturing and time investment. When building relationships, it’s essential to listen actively, communicate openly, show empathy, be reliable, and invest time in shared experiences to strengthen the bond. Trust and understanding are built through consistent effort and genuine care for one another’s well-being,” he says.
He adds, “The speed of modern life can sometimes overshadow the importance of emotional well-being. It’s not uncommon for emotional needs to take a back seat amidst hectic schedules. However, there’s a growing awareness of the significance of mental health, leading more people to prioritise self-care and emotional well-being through practices like mindfulness, therapy, and setting boundaries to maintain a healthier balance.”

It’s important to make friends at work too, and these relationships might be easier to maintain, he says. “Work-related companionship or friendships in metropolitan areas can be convenient due to proximity and shared interests. However, while they may be easier to maintain initially, they might come with challenges, like blurred boundaries between work and personal life. It’s beneficial to strike a balance between work relationships and friendships outside the professional sphere for a more holistic social support system.”
However, one needs to not focus only on work, and live a life focussed on overall well being. “What is highlighted here is an important aspect of modern life. The relentless pursuit of success often leads to neglecting essential emotional needs, impacting mental health. Balancing ambition with self-care, nurturing relationships, and acknowledging emotional needs is crucial for maintaining overall well-being amidst the chase for success,” he says.
