Celesti Bairagey, who was last seen in Rajjo, says that it is tough to make a place for yourself in the industry. However, she says that once an artist understands what a director or production house is looking for in a character, he or she can crack an audition.
“It is true that there is a population explosion in terms of actors. However, I strongly believe that there is only one made to portray a particular character that is created or thought of by the writers and the directors, and that is what makes a difference. In an audition, if you could portray that character what the writer or the director is looking for, the role is yours,” she says.
She adds, “there are many people willing to work and are ready to take your position. It is indeed a cut throat competition. But, at the same time, we need to really feel the character before taking it up. Afterall, we should be happy in what we are doing”.
References and personal equations are what help you get work besides merit, says the actress, adding, “When you have references and personal equations with people related to your work field, you definitely do get auditions and callbacks for a role. But merit still remains the most important factor though. Casting couch, power game, lobbying and nepotism still do exist. Luckily, I haven’t personally experienced any of them in any kind
