There are different stages in everyone’s career. While some stay on the same path, some explore different avenues. Shiksha Mandal actor Gaurav Singh shares his love for his craft, struggles, mediums he wants to explore and opportunities he is in the look out for.
“I love what I do and am very passionate about my acting. Whatever characters I play, small or big, I absolutely enjoy performing it,” he says.
Looking back at the struggles and missed opportunities, Gaurav talks about how he handled the situation. “It’s not easy but it’s worth it when you love what you do. It would have felt like a struggle if I was pursuing a career that didn’t interest me. I believe in trying and not to lose hope,” he adds.
The number of mediums, platforms and social media channels has increased, so has the competition. If you don’t take up the opportunity, there are 100 people ready to replace you.

“That will always be the case, not just in this industry but every other industry. If I am working on a project, I consciously try to focus only on it and not compare myself with anyone because it leads to nothing good. My work should matter to me the most,” he says.
Gaurav wants to do projects which bring out his versatile side. “I want to play characters that justify my capabilities as an artist. I would love to do projects like Tumbbad, Barfi, Rang De Basanti. Each of them has their own flavour,” he adds.
About his journey as an artist, Gaurav says, “I believe an actor can never be satisfied with their work. We always look out for something new all the time. There is no right way or a process to do that but things like attending workshops, constant practice on acting skills, networking with the right set of people, regular auditioning and taking up acting projects really help.”
What’s that film that you have seen many times and consider your reference textbook? “Jab We Met, 3 idiots, Hera Pheri, Dil Chahta Hai are some of my favourite films which I enjoy watching again and again,” he signs off.
