National, August 16, 2023: On the occasion of Independence Day, GVK’s Keshav Reddy, in collaboration with co-founder Rajeev Ranjan, unveiled Equal, a groundbreaking platform designed to empower Indians with a consent-first and privacy-focused approach to sharing identification documents. Equal is developed in partnership with India Stack, the country’s advanced public digital infrastructure, and DigiLocker. With approximately 1 million users already embracing it during its beta phase, Equal’s ambitious goal is to reach 100 million Indians, catering to various use cases including hotel check-ins, real estate transactions, employee verifications, loan approvals, insurance claims, and more. Equal aims to positively impact diverse groups such as white-collar and blue-collar workers, farmers, borrowers, and consumers, providing them with a convenient way to manage their identification documents.
Equal offers a secure environment for users to store, manage, and share government IDs and other records, such as PAN cards, driver’s licenses, health records, and financial documents. The platform is rooted in the philosophy of addressing the daily challenges faced by millions of Indians in accessing opportunities and services due to scattered and disorganized documents.

Rajeev Ranjan, co-founder of Equal, previously served as Director of Engineering at Swiggy and spent nearly a decade at Amazon in various capacities. He played a crucial role in privacy and end-to-end security of customer data while managing the team behind Amazon Pay and Amazon Gift Card. Rajeev holds a Bachelor of Engineering in Computer Science from BIT Mesra.
