‘Disco Dancer – The Musical’, a celebration of 80s Bollywood will premiere on April 14th to 23rd April in Mumbai and promises to revive foot-tapping hits, disco-style dancing and unforgettable dialogues for audiences of all generations. After sold-out shows at West End, London, ‘Disco Dancer – The Musical’ has been brought to India by Saregama and Suniel Shetty.
‘Disco Dancer – The Musical’, Suniel Shetty says is a reminder that Bollywood has given a lot of joy to the world. He adds, ” Especially to the Indian diaspora, it provides a connection with their memories back home. Music unites us all and this is the sentiment that we are celebrating and showing respect to through Disco Dancer The Musical. Long before musicals, our cinema was pioneering the concept of telling a story through song and dance. We did it first.” Suniel says, he was happy to come on board with Saregama to bring ‘Disco Dancer – The Musical’ to India and says, “I have grown up listening to this music, idolising the heroes of that era and for me and everyone else, this will be an experience of pure nostalgia. Our song and dance routines have been mocked but now people are realising their importance and the happiness they have brought to millions.”
According to Suniel, the live musical will also allow many young talents to shine on a massive platform and says, “Saregama will attempt to create many more such opportunities and we are all very excited to bring a musical of this scale and grandeur for the first time to India.”
A Saregama production ‘Disco Dancer – The Musical’ will premiere on 14th April to 23rd April at the NSCI dome in Mumbai. Tickets are available on BookMyShow.
