Four-time National Award winner and acclaimed actress Kangana Ranaut is all set to captivate audiences with her upcoming period political drama, “Emergency,” where she portrays the role of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. The film, produced by Zee Studios and Manikarnika Films, is a mega-budget depiction of one of the most controversial chapters in the history of Indian democracy. Scheduled for a worldwide release, “Emergency” is set to hit screens on June 14, 2024.
Kangana Ranaut, who also serves as the writer and director of the film, shared the release date on social media through a poster featuring her as Indira Gandhi on the front page of a newspaper. Speaking about the project, Kangana expressed, “Emergency is my most ambitious project and the second directorial post-Manikarnika. We have the best of Indian and international talent come together for this big-budget, grand period drama.”
Apart from Kangana Ranaut, the film features a stellar cast, including Anupam Kher, Mahima Chaudhary, Milind Soman, Shreyas Talpade, Vishak Nair, and the late Satish Kaushik in pivotal roles. The music for “Emergency” is composed by Sanchit Balhara, with screenplay and dialogues penned by Ritesh Shah. The film promises to provide a glimpse into India’s darkest hour during the Emergency period.
