MX Player, one of India’s leading OTT platforms, has released its latest MX Original series, Virodh. The crime thriller, set in the illegal sand mining world of Western Uttar Pradesh, is a unique blend of crime, romance, and sports. The show follows the story of Kajri, played by Pritha Bakshi, a young sportswoman whose life is turned upside down after the brutal murder of her father and brother.
Kajri, fighting the odds of life with her mother, finds herself at the mercy of her ruthless uncle Brijbhan, who takes over the family’s business and plans to marry her off to Vishesh, the son of a powerful local politician. Defying Brijban’s plans, Kajri elopes with her high school sweetheart Gogi, played by Abhinav Ranga, hoping to build a life away from the violence and corruption that surrounds them.
However, their happiness is short-lived as Brijbhan retaliates by killing Gogi’s family, forcing Kajri to make a difficult choice. In a desperate attempt to save Gogi’s life, Kajri offers to marry Vishesh, but their wedding night turns into a bloodbath as a violent shootout erupts. On the run from Brijbhan and his henchmen, can Kajri and Gogi survive the dangerous world they find themselves in?
Director and Creator Rahul Dahiya has done an exceptional job of weaving together the various plot elements to create an engrossing narrative. The series is further elevated by the brilliant performances of the cast, including Ashish Nehra, Manoj Rathi, Jaspal Kaur, Deepak Kapoor, Geetanjali Mishra, Rajbeer Singh, Vickey, Bhavana, and Simran.

Speaking about her experience playing Kajri, actress Pritha Bakshi said, “Portraying Kajri has been an enlightening experience in the sense that I embodied not just the personality but also the life of a small town girl and the possibilities that lay ahead of her.” Bakshi also spoke about the rigorous training she underwent for the role, which included sports training.
Abhinav Ranga, who plays Gogi, also shared his experience of working on the show. “Playing Gogi was an exciting experience. Gogi’s character has a complex and layered backstory, which makes it all the more interesting to portray. The sports element in the show added another layer of excitement and challenge,” he said.
