February 11 is National Make a Friend Day. The idea is to encourage people to make new friends on this day. In our fast paced life, we are hardly making new friends and don’t even have the time for old ones. In a metro city like Mumbai, everyone is running all the time and this hectic lifestyle is taking away all the goodness. Pause for a while and think, do you make friends easily or not? It is said that making work related pals are easier and one is spending a lot of time with them often. Actor, humanitarian and yoga expert Anu Aggarwal talks about the occasion and what is good in making new acquaintances.
“Life is moving fast and as time goes ahead, it is bound to be even faster, a natural process of evolution where everything becomes more complex, replacing simpler beings. One of the biggest changes has been brought about by the fact that people, especially the youth today, are glued, individually to their smart phones or computer screens and that is a demand of us becoming technologically more and more advanced and relevant,” explains Anu.
Talking further on what can be done, she stresses on the importance of knowing our own self better. “I think it is essential that we start to look within and find solace as the greatest friend you can have is within you. We need to learn to make friends with oneself. The Idea behind being a friend is to give and not just expect to get and that’s what true friendship is for me
