Netflix has announced the return of its TakeTen workshop and competition, in collaboration with Film Companion, with the aim of discovering and supporting underrepresented filmmakers from across India. The program provides an opportunity for five aspiring creators to attend workshops on writing, directing, and producing series, hosted by some of India’s most accomplished industry leaders. The winners will also receive a grant from the Netflix Fund for Creative Equity to produce their own, fully funded short series. The short series will debut on Netflix India’s YouTube channel to global audiences.
Last year’s TakeTen program was a resounding success, receiving entries from more than 20 states in India. Half of the ten finalists were women, reflecting the program’s emphasis on diversity and inclusion. The second season will continue the program’s commitment to offering opportunity and support to emerging talent, encouraging a new generation of storytellers in India.
Anupama Chopra, Film Companion editor, said, “TakeTen is about opportunity, inclusion, and diversity. It’s a privilege to do it again.” Monika Shergill, Vice-President, Content, Netflix India, added, “We believe that inclusion behind the camera leads to better representation on screen, and TakeTen will help us to discover unique voices and support emerging series creators.”
