“The Elephant in The Room” is a comedy that takes a whimsical approach to address what is commonly known as “the elephant in the room” – an obvious problem or difficult situation that people avoid discussing. Nitinn R Miranni, known for his background in comedy, found himself drawn to this project due to its unique concept.
Nitinn explains, “Well, since Aarti and I came up with the concept/story idea of the film, given my background as a comedian, there was always space for me to play one of the characters. The film is about friends getting together and how an innocent get-together becomes a night of mayhem for all of them.” His character, Aryan, embodies the easygoing and fun-loving spirit that often defines Nitinn in real life.
Real-Life Friendships Translated On Screen
The camaraderie among the cast and crew of “The Elephant in The Room” played a crucial role in bringing the film’s story to life. Nitinn notes, “Most of our characters are good friends in real life, and we already have a good tuning.” This real-life chemistry between the cast members added authenticity to their on-screen interactions.
To ensure that this camaraderie translated seamlessly onto the screen, the team engaged in workshops and readings. This dedication to perfecting their craft ensured that the humor and emotions flowed naturally throughout the film.

Addressing the Elephant in The Room
As the title suggests, the film tackles unspoken issues in a lighthearted manner. Nitinn explains, “Our film is a light take on a heavy topic. Sometimes, even among your closest friends or family, it can be challenging to address sensitive matters.” He points out that this is a common practice in India, and it often leads to suppressed emotions and misunderstandings.
The metaphor of an elephant in the room serves as a clever way to explore this concept. Nitinn elaborates, “We always feel that sometimes ‘someone’ would make the first move and say what needs to be said so the others can join in. So in this case, our ‘Hero,’ our Gannu (played by), takes the lead and says what needs to be said. As the tagline of the film says, ‘It takes an elephant to come into the room to bring out the elephant in the room.'”

Behind the Scenes: Miracles and Ganesha
While creating a comedy is all about laughter and fun, every production has its challenges. Nitinn fondly recalls a moment from the set when they faced a difficult situation. However, their hero, Gannu, played a pivotal role not just in the film but in their real-life moment of crisis. He shares, “Having our hero Gannu on set and to not have a miracle is impossible. So yes, we did have a moment where we were seriously stuck in a situation, but then our Gannu took the lead, almost saying ‘Don’t stress, here’s the solution.'”
Ganesha, often referred to as Gannu affectionately, holds a special place in Nitinn and Aarti Miranni’s hearts. “Aarti and I have an immense and unexplainable love for Lord Ganesha,” Nitinn reveals. “It is easily one of our favorite celebrations.” The couple goes to great lengths to ensure that their Ganesha celebrations are a perfect blend of creativity and tradition. “There is a certain calm that I feel around him, and it’s so unique that for me, Gannu is like a big brother who is also a child as well as a father. I feel so much gratitude when I look into his eyes, knowing that he is always there to protect us.”
