In the world of theater, where characters come to life through the talents of actors and the words of playwrights, certain roles have the power to captivate both the performer and the audience. One such character has captured the heart of actor Saanand Verma in the play “Dil Abhi Bhara Nahin.” While Saanand may not personally relate to his character, he finds him incredibly endearing and relevant in today’s world.
Saanand Verma, known for his versatile acting skills, has ventured into new territory with “Dil Abhi Bhara Nahin,” a play that offers a unique blend of emotion, humor, and suspense. This departure from his typical roles intrigued him, and he was drawn to the multifaceted character written by Sanjay Jha.
“I haven’t played a character like this for a long time, and also I’ve never done any commercial in my life. So I was offered Sanjay Ji’s play,” Saanand shares. The play’s script, penned by Sanjay Jha, impressed him from the start, but it was the character he was asked to portray that truly captured his heart.

He goes on to describe the character as relatable, even though he, personally, doesn’t share many similarities with him. This intriguing juxtaposition between the character’s relatability and Saanand’s own life experiences added depth to his portrayal.
“My character is very relatable but ironically, I don’t relate to him personally. But my character is very relevant in today’s times,” Saanand explains. His character, Jimmy, is depicted as someone who has multiple affairs, but as the play unfolds, there is a revelation that adds a touching and sweet layer to his personality. Saanand enjoys the challenge of bringing out the humorous side of Jimmy while also delving into the deeper complexities of his character.
“Dil Abhi Bhara Nahin” delves into the themes of true love, a sentiment that can sometimes seem elusive in today’s fast-paced, virtual world. Saanand’s preparation for the role involved keen observation of human behavior and an exploration of how Jimmy’s character fits into the modern landscape of relationships.
“I always think about the real situations. There are a lot of people like my character Jimmy,” Saanand observes. “I always observe people’s behavior, and this time it was easy to use these observations in my performance. This character comes very easily to me, and I really enjoy playing this role. Jimmy is involved with different girls, and at the same time, there is a very heartwarming situation in his life which makes him a very good person.”
Saanand Verma’s approach to his character mirrors his personal philosophy regarding the digital age. He expresses concerns about the growing dependence on social media and digital connections, emphasizing the need to strike a balance between real, authentic emotions and virtual interactions.

“Actually, I am someone who is not very happy with the kind of social media revolution and the kind of culture that we are getting into,” Saanand reveals. “We don’t meet up with people, and we just digitally connect, and emotionally we are disconnecting. We have to strike a proper balance between real emotions and virtual digital emotions. I am not a very big fan of virtual or digital emotions. There are so many hours when I just don’t even see my mobile phone. And I am always detached from all these electronic gadgets. I’m always trying to find real, pure emotions.”
As he discusses the play, Saanand Verma’s enthusiasm is evident. He particularly appreciates the title, “Dil Abhi Bhara Nahin,” which translates to “The Heart is Not Yet Full.” To him, this title resonates deeply with the human condition, as it encapsulates the perpetual human desire for more and the endless pursuit of fulfillment.
“The title of this play is amazing because as human beings, we are always expecting more and more and more. We are never satisfied or never happy. We are always striving for more,” Saanand reflects. “There is never a time in our lives when we feel we have everything that we need. So ‘Dil Abhi Bhara Nahin’ is a very truthful title, and I really connect with this title.”
