In the most shocking and upsetting news, contraceptives, condoms, and cigarettes were found in the bags of students of classes 8, 9, and 10 in Bengaluru schools. While it disturbed the authorities, the parents also were taken aback. Former Bollywood actress and Florida-based NGO owner Somy Ali feels teenagers will indulge in these things because of curiosity.
She, however, dismisses that it has to do with smartphones, the internet, or global connectivity.
She said, “First of all every child will engage in using or doing such things with or without cell phones or the internet out of curiosity. We all have done at least one of these things and back then we did not have the internet or cell phones.”
“It is basic human nature and more so for children when they are told not to do something they are going to rebel. Teenagers will inevitably engage in these sorts of things no matter what,” she added.

Though Somy feels that it’s a good thing that these kids knew about condoms and contraceptives, she believes they should be aware of the hazards of smoking.
“Actually I am glad that they would have had the sense to purchase contraceptives due to unwanted pregnancies and STDs. The only bad thing that I see here is cigarettes because who even smokes in 2022? And, it is more than significantly evident that smoking and vaping literally give you cancer,” she ended.
