Date: October 21, 2023 Mumbai, October 21, 2023 – North Bombay Sarbojanin Durga Puja Samiti, one of Mumbai’s oldest and most prestigious Durga Puja celebrations, is celebrating its 76th year. The ongoing festivities have brought together renowned personalities, Bollywood stars, and cultural enthusiasts to celebrate the rich culture, art, and spirituality of the Thai Temples. The Shubho Mahasaptami Pujo was an extravagant and star-studded affair, attended by distinguished guests, including Isha Ambani, Rani Mukerji, Kajol and her son Yug, Hema Malini, Esha Deol, Tanishaa Mukerji, Kiara Advani, Imtiaz Ali, Divya Dutta, Jaan Kumar Sanu, Ashutosh Gowariker, Sunita Gowariker, Vatsal Sheth, Ishita Dutta, Rakhi Sawant, Sharvari, Anurag Basu, Madhu Chopra, Chandan Roy Sanyal, Aaditi Pohankar, Mouli Ganguly, and many more.
The highlight of this year’s celebration is the magnificent 20-feet high Protima (idol) of Goddess Durga, adorned with a beautifully crafted Mukut (crown). This awe-inspiring sculpture weighs over 3 tons and requires the use of forklifts and cranes during the immersion process. The Protima takes seven rounds before immersion, making it a central focus of the celebration.
The theme for this year’s Durga Puja, “Thai Temples,” draws inspiration from the rich and ornate designs found in the temples of Thailand. The Pandal (decorated temporary structure) has been meticulously designed to recreate a captivating Thai ambiance for all visitors, under the guidance of Art Director Kiran.

The Durga Puja celebration spans from Shasti to Bijoya Dashami and includes several rituals and activities like Maha Saptami, Maha Ashtami, Shandhi Puja, Maha Navami Puja, and Bijoya Dashami.
