People need to change their perspective, says ace designer Anjali Phougat. The designer, who is a regular at New York Fashion Week and also recently styled the look for Miss Universe participant Miss Chile Sophia Depassier, says that Deepika’s look is absolutely in tune with the feel of the song.
“I did watch the song and heard about a lot of controversies on that song. But I think those looks are very incredible, sensual, bold and beautiful. People need to come out from their small mindsets and we need to look at songs from a different perspective. I feel the team has done an incredible job, from the song, dress, makeup, everything is perfect,” she says.
She adds, “It makes sense to stay true to the vibe as it was also shot on the beach. The blingy blouse looked attractive on her. Few days back I visited LA for one of my projects and while coming back, I saw Deepika’s huge billboard for Louis Vuitton and felt incredibly proud to see an Indian woman ruling the world. I also loved her FIFA opening look. People still bashed her for that look but I don’t understand how people who don’t know fashion judge someone’s styling sense.
Complimenting her on her looks, Anjali says, “I really love how she looks effortless during her various appearances and it’s so minimal. Her oversized jackets also look fashionable and make it look effortless. I think she has a very versatile persona where she can pull Western and Indian looks very elegantly.”
