Despite having many OTT platforms and production houses, the competition among actors is cut-throat these days. Even though the web as a new medium has opened up new doors and a number of channels/platforms are coming up, finding the right work opportunity is still quite a task. There is a huge competition and often an actor is swamped with offers while others aren’t. Rakshabandhan… Rasal Apni Bhai Ki Dhal actor Sanchita Banerjee shares her experience.
“Ever since social media has taken a boom, there has been a population explosion in our industry. The job of an actor is to learn and not to judge who is deserving or not,” she says.
Casting couch, power game, lobbying, and nepotism still exist no matter whether we accept it or not. Sharing her honest viewpoint, the actor says, “It is not that casting couch, power, game, lobbying, and nepotism only exist in the film industry, rather it’s there in other fields of work. It is not the film industry which is bad. It is the mentality of the people that is bad. Casting couch is when a person thinks you are weaker and wants to take advantage of you. So my attitude towards this is ‘Don’t be weak, put your foot down and say no’. Also, another important thing is to believe in yourself, and have the courage and willpower to fight such situations
